When the Girls are Away the Boys Will PLAY!

This week A. and B. have been at Girls' Camp, so it's just been the boys and me. It has been rather nice. I love my gals and the excitement and drama (mostly) that they bring, but it has been SO calm this week. The boys have liked it as well. We've crammed in lots of fun. We've swam, had a pizza party, watched movies, eaten our favorite Jelly Bellies, played IPad, gone to the library, gone out to eat using our free kid's meal coupons, visited a Science museum, toured our town hall (for a Cub Scout requirement), swam some more, made liquid chalk, eaten donut holes, and just had fun with each other. We didn't get to the frozen yogurt. There's still time...

 The boys could have stayed at this water station the whole time and they did stay for a loooonnngg time, building dams and racing the squirty plastic toys. 

 Oh, my!  This isn't happening for a few years! 

Watch out when it does.

End of School

 We made it!  We finished school for the year!  YAY!!!  The boys had End of Year parties and awards and one last school assembly full of cheers, teachers dancing, students dancing, and well wishes for all. It was a whirlwind week and I'm still catching my breath this week!

 L received the "Starburst" candy award for being a star and always doing his best. His teacher (who was fabulous!) had each student write what they loved about their fellow students and framed it. 

X-man received the Eagle award for his Outstanding Achievement. He is ready to "soar" into 5th grade. 

Way to Go, guys!

Once the awards were done, the parties began with games likes musical beach towels, beach ball relay, a limbo contest, hula hoop relay, and race-to-dress-like-a-hula-dancer. 

Here are L's favorite people in all of 2nd grade.

 For the grand finale of the 4th graders/soon-to-be-top-dogs parties, the teachers were covered with trash bags and lovely shower caps. Then a blob of shaving cream was placed on top their heads and the students each got to throw and stick a cheese puff ball to the shaving cream. Some students "missed" and little bits of cheese puff rested peacefully on Mr. R's brow. What a good sport!

And what of the girls...

 This gal was THRILLED to be finished with her first year of high school. 

(So were we!)

A. was very glad school was done too! But I didn't get a picture to show that enthusiasm. Take my word. She was glad. 

Then school was through!  And summer has begun!
