L turned the big 5 on Tuesday. He has been counting down for sometime now, letting us know each morning "how many" days until the Big Day! His day started with opening presents and having his birthday choice of breakfast (donuts--though it was a toss up between that or Pop Tarts. Thankfully, donuts won) before Dad went off to work.
L wanted to have a play date with his friends for his b-day, so we invited some of his best buds over. I was so busy directing/playing with 6 little 3-5 year olds (all boys except for one lone girl) that I forgot to take a picture. We followed dino foot prints to a dino nest with eggs (they had fruit snacks inside). Then we dug for dinosaur bones (beans) inside play dough (or clay as one boy insisted). We ended with a game of catch the dino egg (balloon) and freeze before the music stops. Of course, we had to have cupcakes and sing to the Birthday Boy. And lesson to self, don't do mini-cupcakes inside. I never knew they could be SO messy. Crumbs, crumbs everywhere, crumbs! Once the kiddos were good and sugared up and round up catching "dino eggs" we sent them home. L had a fun time.
That afternoon L. took his new bike and helmet for a spin. All I can say is "Watch out Evil Ka-neval!" (Is that how it's spelled? Oh, well. You get the point). Little L was whizzing by me, grinning like crazy and casually asking, "HOW do I stop?" Once he sort of figured out the brakes, he thought it was especially cool that he left skid marks all over the sidewalk. Yesterday he had his first crash (very minor) and was pleased that he turned into the grass to crash though the bike fell on the grass and he fell on the pavement.
L. wanted a "5" cake. In honor of his big 5, here a 5 Things We Love About Logan:
- He plays with me. (X-man)
- He's SOOOO cute and helpful. (A)
- He's my buddy. (B)
- He's good-natured (Dad)
- He's so cheerful and happy. (Mom)
And the fun continued today with a jaunt to the store to spend a b-day gift card. He knew right what he wanted. As you can see, X-man thought he made a great choice!
