12 Years and Counting

A., a few years ago!

A. celebrated her 12th birthday Tuesday.  She requested that she get to stay home from her school for her birthday because:

1. B. got to (Mom's response: her b-day is always during Christmas break. She ALWAYS stays home)
2. L. got to (Mom's response: he was sick on his b-day; not exactly fun for him!)
3. X. got to (Mom's response: his b-day is always during Spring break. He usually gets to stay home)
4. Mom gets to; she stays home everyday anyway (Mom's response: and she eats bon-bons, and watches every soap opera there is, and paints her nails, and...)
5. Dad gets to; he'll just take the day off from work (Mom's response: actually, No.  He works on every birthday)

So while I responded to every reason she had, she still got to stay home from school on her birthday.  She's cute, she's sweet, she's convincing, and I'm a softy.

Of course the morning started with donuts and presents. A. is the QUEEN of donuts. Then she watched Harry Potter while I tried making her birthday pie,  a lemon meringue pie (It turned out! Yummy!).  Then we headed out for pizza at Schlotzsky's  and some shopping. There might have been birthday money burning a hole in her pocket at the beginning of the day, but it must have burned it's way out, because it was gone by the end of the day! She had a fun time finding everything she wanted: fingernail stencils, clothes, a necklace, gum, and "Tangled."  It was such fun to celebrate her and the beautiful, young lady she is--inside and out!  The day ended with dinner at A's choice, Olive Garden, and pie at home.  An excellent day!
